How You Can Get Involved
Classroom Support
Assist teachers in the classroom, contribute to special projects, and provide valuable support during class activities, events and field trips.
Committee Participation
Join a NEST Committee that aligns with your interests and expertise.
Special Projects
Contribute your unique talents to specific projects, such as designing promotional materials, creating artwork, or assisting with technology.
Confused about what you need to volunteer at Hickman? You’re not alone!
Here’s a quick guide on key requirements:
Live Scan: A one-time requirement. Once you’ve been fingerprinted and cleared through the California Department of Justice (DOJ), your clearance stays valid with SDUSD - you do not need to repeat it each school year, even if you move between schools within the district.
Volunteer Application: Must be renewed yearly.
TB Clearance: Valid for 4 years, unless a new risk assessment or test is required.
Important: Live Scan results are not transferable. For example, a Live Scan completed for Little League will not transfer to SDUSD.
